Biographie
Rebecca Belliveau est une artiste de la région de Moncton. Elle a complété son Baccalauréat en arts visuels et a complémenté ses études à Montréal avec des cours en art contemporain sous la direction d’Irene Whittome, artiste Canadienne reconnue. Spécialisée en photographie et peinture lors de ses études, Rebecca a venu a développé sa propre technique qui combine la peinture et la photographie pour créer des œuvres média-mixtes, très texturées – un style unique et contemporain. Subtiles et mystérieuses, ses toiles fascinent avec leurs textures et captent l’attention grâce aux photographies oniriques de personnes et paysages. Elles captent un instant et le rendent éternel tout en ajoutant une profondeur avec des extraits poétiques de l’artiste.
L’automatisme et l’expressionisme abstrait est au coeur de son travail. Elle utilise l’art visuel en tant qu’outil communicationnel direct et pur afin d’exprimer ses pensées et émotions à propos de l’humanité – notre identité et nos origines. Ses œuvres sont inspirées d’observations sur le Gnosticisme, la psychologie jungienne, et des recherches de croyances populaires paranormales en Acadie.
Biography
Rebecca Belliveau is an artist living and working in the Moncton area. She obtained her BFA and pursued further courses in media arts in Montreal with renowned Canadian artist, Irene Whittome. Having specialized during university in both painting and photography, Rebecca eventually developed her own technique that combines both mediums to create an integrated mixed media – the result being fine art photography and highly textured contemporary painting. The mixed-media paintings on canvas have a subtle sense of mystery, and appeal to the viewer’s aesthetic attraction to textures, all the while capturing and holding his attention with dreamlike images of people and landscapes.
The heart of her work is in automatism and abstract expressionism, and her intent is to use visual art as the purest and most direct form of communication to express my thoughts and emotions on the subject of who humans are, and where we come from. The inspiration for her paintings is born of observations on Gnosticism, Jungian psychology, and research on Acadian paranormal folklore.
